All ductwork, wiring, etc... is well situated up in the rafters, and would allow for a simple ceiling finishing.

Most of the pinestraw area you see above is dryspace, covered by the upper
floor. A few other Villa Owners have made some dramatic improvements in
this lower area. The least ambitious was finishing out the Storage Room,
then adding a lower outside/covered deck, and the connecting it to the upper
deck via a cut-through staircase. One guy made the storage room into a
mini "Pool Hall". The Most Ambitious involved finishing out the Storage area - but then enclosing this lower area as a complete Terrace level. THEN the kitchen/dining area was extended out into the deck area, and an interior stairway connects the 2 levels. The owners thought about doing just that, and then decided they liked it like it was - but we bring this up only because the question often gets asked. So now you know the possibilities :) |
