As you can see, there are dramatic mountain views across the Lake.
This is only from the lower elevation along the dam. The really
dramatic views are going to come from the upper ridgeline that runs to the
left of the below photo. (more on that later) |

|
For a long series of photos, we're going to show a photo shoot of the
lake as we walk around to the right of the lake - all the way around -
eventually ending up on the far left side. |
 |
 |
 |
|
Above and below we're at the right corner of the dam, about to head down
the right hand roadway that runs all the way down to the farthest right end of
the lake. First let me comment on some of the ridgeline that we see straight
ahead in the photo below:
The Ridgeline, directly on the other side of the dam, is 60 - 80' above the
elevation along the dam. Way down at the far right side of the photo - across the lake - that ridgeline is about 50' above the dam elevation.
This point bears out that those sites will offer much more dramatic views over the
lake than those already pictured. |
 |
|
Now, lets continue our tour around the lake..... |
 |
|
Below is a zoom shot across the lake. On the left is a small island.
When the lake was originally built back in the 60's, the plan was to put a
gazebo out there - connected by a bridge. It's still a great option.
Straight ahead, in the rear, is a beautiful 4 - 5 acre knoll (mentioned
earlier); the upper
elevation is about 50' above the dam elevation; from the slopes
of that little knoll, you have amazing views over the lake - showing the
mountain ranges in the distance and a beautiful, straight view shot of Amicalola Falls &
The Lodge. |
 |
|
Below is a photo looking down a peninsula of land that divides the lake at
the rear. Across the lake in the distance to the right is the dam.
Three feeder creeks enter the lake to the left & right of this peninsula.
These creeks allow for rainbow trout to reproduce in these waters. |
 |
|
Below is a photo back towards the rear woodland. The rear property
line is about where the road goes out of sight. The next property is a
private 40 acre estate owned by an Atlanta attorney. To the left of the
trail, the property slopes up to the rear side of the small knoll mentioned a
few photos prior. |
 |
 |
|
The ABOVE PHOTO gives us an opportunity to discuss the
"Prime Homesite". In the above, you can see the little "Gazebo Island"
straight ahead (2nd in rear). Just to the right of that you see the trees as they
begin to merge up along that ridgeline. THAT is a beautiful building
site that would allow you to have near lakeside access but also afford you
the dramatic views across the lake towards the distant mountain vistas / Amicalola Falls, etc... You'd be centered right in the middle of that
side of the lake. Of course, so many other great building sites exist as
well. Once upon a time, the owner gave great thought to doing such a
thing and that site emerged as his best choice. As an estate property -
you'd be able to build "Guest Homes/Cabins" at various wonderful locations as
well. |
|
|
Above and below are
overlooking the rear right-hand finger of the lake. This portion of the
lake is only between 2 - 4 feet deep and houses some water birds, i.e., blue
heron & cranes, and serves
as a "fish breeding ground". While the majority of the lake is deep
water - this is sort of the "creek entry marshland'. |
|
 |
 |
 |
|
This would be a good time to sit and take a break - tell you a bit about
the fish & wildlife. There's an amazing amount of birdlife and
even some beavers live back in there. You'll get visiting ducks & geese
as well. The lake is stocked with just about everything you can imagine:
Bass, Brim, Catfish & Trout. Plenty of Deer, Bear & Turkey roam
the land as well. |
|
. |
|
Now we're going to do a quick tour of the other side of the dam, the lower
fields & creek and show some of the woodland Ridgeline. PROPERTY LINE NOTE: All of the fields pictured
below are NOT part of this
property but belong to the Owner's old main 12 Acre Estate (not for sale).
The property line in ALL the following photographs follow the tree line in the
ridge you see directly above. We're just trying to give you an idea of
the beautiful immediate surroundings but also to highlight that beautiful
ridgeline (pictured in distance below), which IS part of the property. |
 |
 |
|
Above and below we are standing on the dam
looking down at the fields below. All of the fields above are not part of the property for
sale, but show the surrounding land below the dam. Below right, you see the treeline, which is the property line
and our property flows up the ridge and then back to the right behind that
car, and along that entire side of the lake. |
 |
|
Below, we're in the fields looking back up towards the dam, with the 40 acre
ridgeline border at left (treeline again). The next few photos are just
taken from farther and farther views. This gives you another good view of the
ridgeline but also provides some very pretty surrounding area pictures. |
 |
 |
|
The little stream
shown above is the overflow stream from the lake, the dam being pictured
straight up at the end, and then the lake sort of wraps around to the left
behind ridge. |
 |
 |
|
This last 2 photos above shows the far end of the woodland ridge knoll -
with the Lake back behind it to the right, down below the 2 big puffy clouds
you see stacked on each other above right. Remember, that the fields you see in the immediate
foreground in the above photo are NOT part of the main property
for sale, and are simply representative of the surrounding area below the dam.
But the big wooded knoll you see IS part of the property and it stretched back
far beyond what you see above, and offers perfect building site views to the
right over the lake and towards Amicalola Falls and the Surrounding Mountains.
To give you a better idea of the locations and scale of property size
involved, the photo above was taken from the spot indicated by the "Blue Dot"
below, looking in the direction of arrow. |
