Big Canoe has round the clock security at both the North & Main gates.  Additionally they run patrols throughout the community 24/7, and are responsible for traffic issues within the community. On the rare ice days, they have even been known to drive residents to or from their homes in their 4 wheel drive vehicles - if the residents were unable to negotiate the higher elevations themselves.  Because Big Canoe is so large, and contains so many hard to figure out roadways, many guests are in constant need of direction, and a helpful security officer is usually around to lead folks to their destination.

We have a wonderful security staff, many of whom have been with Big Canoe for untold years.  This is a very professional, friendly and helpful group of people, and they are a wonderful asset to our community. 

A thing that has greatly disturbed me on occasion, is when I have witnessed the poor treatment they receive from some, that look to them more as lowly community servants, than as the integral part of the community family, which they are.  Over the years, my wife and I have delivered Christmas cookies, and Summer fresh vegetables from our garden to the staff, as a token of thanks for their professional and friendly service.

Small gestures go a long way.  Please remember a smile, a thankful word, or a small token of appreciation on occasion to these wonderful people. They are a part of our Big Canoe family.  The same goes for our Maintenance staff, and other Employees.
