The community is called Johntown, which was originally an old farm community in the early 1900's.  Lots range in size from a few acres to 100 acres.  There are less than 3 dozen homes in the entire sprawling Johntown area, and maybe a dozen permanent residents (thats a close guestimate).  Most everyone is very friendly, quiet and pretty much keep to themselves. There's no formal, intrusive Property Owners Association, and everyone seems to share the same value of keeping the area as natural and scenic as possible. Johntown is located about 2 miles from the base of Amicalola Falls as the crow flies. 

 
GENERAL INFORMATION / COMMENTS:

  • Amicalola Falls Park & Lodge being only a few minutes drive away.  Lunch & Dinner buffets at the Amicalola Lodge with breathtaking views through a wall of windows is one of my favorite dining experiences.  Community is basically centered equidistant between the mountain cities of Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Ellijay & Jasper - all of which have excellent shopping opportunities (all about 20 minutes away), and mountain fair activities almost year round.  For immediate groceries and dining, the nearby IGA/FOOTHILLS shopping complex, which services Big Canoe and the Amicalola area, is available. Property is 1 hour's drive from North Atlanta.
  • This is one of the rarest View Lots in North America.  I say that because Amicalola Falls is the tallest scenic waterfall east of the Mississippi, and the ridgeline that this lot is on has one of the closest views there is.
