58,000 Sq Ft STONE CASTLE on
an amazing 220 Acres that includes 3 Lakes and about 1.5 Miles of River
Frontage that
meanders through the gently rolling property.
Following are some of the features of the
Castle:
The Castle is built in 4 sections: A huge frontal Main Castle, a large East Wing
Castle, a matching West Wing Castle, and a Rear Armory - all surrounding a central,
enclosed Courtyard. At 24' tall, and with a 1,360 Sq. Ft. base, just the
"tiny" entrance Portico is as large as most
homes, but it's the smallest feature of this structure by far. We've got comprehensive dimensions + Visual Blueprint and Front
Elevation sketches available in a link at the bottom of the page.
Following are some of the features of the
220 Acres of included Land:
The entire tract is gently rolling terrain. There
is an existing jeep trail / road network running throughout the property. Approximately 3/4 miles of the East
Fork of the "Little River" runs through the
northern section of the property. You own both sides of the river as
it crosses into the property, out for a short spell, and then back in
through a long corner pf the property. In the middle of the property
is a small lake (little less than an acre), which feeds a
slightly larger lake (little over an acre), which feeds the
main lake (3 acres), which exits over a spillway and down a
nice 50' foot cascading waterfall section of large stream. This eventually
runs into the River. In our Aerial Photo Section at bottom of page you
can get a visual of how it all relates to the property. The Property is mostly hardwoods, and has lots of laurel, and some
scattered pine patches. The main 14 acre Castle Compound area is
generally open / cleared with scattered tree stands. Trails/Roads lead
out from there throughout the property. Aerial Photography + Ground Level
photography samples are in more detailed sections at the bottom of this page.
The
Castle Construction is incomplete:
The entire Castle is Framed, sided and roofed. Almost all of the
Interior courtyard, East & West Wings have all of their exterior
stonework done. The Entry Portico is completed in and out.
Interior of East, West & Armory Wings are Sheet rocked and laid out in huge
general rooms with plumbing and electrical installed. All rooftop patios
and walkways have the concrete flooring poured. We've organized all the
full details of what is done, what needs to be done, and estimates of
materials and labor costs to complete the job in a comprehensive PDF file,
along with interior finish ideas that were originally envisioned. This
paper is located in the links at the bottom of each page.
Quick
History Summary of how it all started:
This is quite a story, and it began in
1994, when the land was originally purchased, and the idea began to take
shape. While Dale & Lee Werner provide the beginning of the story to
present, the end will most likely be written by someone else. We tell the
story to present, and even provide a few rough draft outlines of how someone
might want to finish the story. The Story Link is located at the bottom
of each page.
General Location:
Property is located atop Lookout Mountain in the Northwest corner of
Georgia, near the Tennessee & Alabama lines. Property is in Chattooga
County, just south of Cloudland Canyon. We have aerial photos, locator maps, and exact driving
directions in a section at the very bottom of the page.

Below we
begin the photo tour where we mix in extra text descriptions.
At the very bottom of the page are
links to various special photo & info sections. |

Let's start with the
Castle! At 58,000 Sq. Ft. it is huge!
We're going to start with some visuals to give you an idea of just how big
this is. |
|
Below we're going to take you on a quick visual tour around the Castle,
mixing in current photos + older construction photos in order to best
represent the enormous size and scale of things. |
 |
Above we see the site prior to the main castle being begun.
Below is the same view after the Main Front Castle started going up. As
you can see, the Main Front Castle absolutely obscures the overall view, so
we're going to jump to some older photos prior to it's erection first. |
 |
Below are some older photos prior to the Main Castle, should give an idea
of how big just the rear portions are..... We're going to start wide, and then
walk you in.
BELOW: That's the East Wing to Right, Armory Rear Center, West Wing to Left. |
 |
Above shows the breadth of the rear - and below is a angle of the same.
Note the person in photo below for scale of size. |
 |
|
Below we zoom in closer to show just the East Wing.... |
 |
 |
And to the Left is the West Wing Tower,
with one of the construction workers to show the Scale. Those top of those
lower level windows are about 9' off the ground.

Below we add in the Main Castle.

Above is a zoom to front, prior to the Portico Entry going up.
Just to give an idea of the scale, those windows along the bottom are 9' off
the ground at the top - that's ceiling level in most homes. Below we
step back, and show it farther along in construction, with Portico Entry
shelled out. Ground to Top, just that front wall section is 38' high.
The Towers are 55' high. |
 |
|
Below we angle to the side and show how it ties into the East Wing Castle -
and remembering how big the East Wing itself is, you begin to get an idea of
just how massive the overall Main Castle structure is. |
 |
 |
Left we are standing in the Portico Entry, and Photographing the East Main
Castle Tower. Adult & Child in window provide Scale.

Below we show the part
of the inner courtyard.

In the photo above, at far end, is a door.
In the left photograph we are standing at that doorway and photographing back
along the courtyard wall, as windows are installed. Puts a good
perspective on the length and height of that section. That's the 16'
ceiling "Library" where the window section is being installed.
Below we're stepping through that wall you
see to left, into the interior of that breezeway, and photographing back out
into the courtyard. |
 |
|
Remember that these photos were solely selected to give an idea of the size
of things. Let's finish this page with some Aerial Photographs, that
ties all of this into the overall 220 Acres. |
 |
|
Above is the Castle zoomed. The entire footprint of the castle,
including the courtyard is approximately 35,000 Square Feet, and when you add
in the various Interior Floors, Decks and Patio Space you get to a total of
approximately 58,000 Square Feet of usable Interior & Exterior Combined Space.
Below we show it in reference to the entire property, which is almost exactly
framed by the edges of the below photograph. The river you see at the
top of the Aerial, snaking in and out of the property runs approximately 3/4's
of a mile in property. |
 |
This concludes the Introduction Page. Our purpose on this page was
simply to introduce you to the general size and scope of the Castle and
Property. In the sections below we move into some more comprehensive
photography & details.
You might want to check out the "Dimension Info + Visual Blueprint & Elevation Sketches" next, as it really helps give a comprehensive idea of the layout-
