The links above have much more information, but let me give you a quick overview of Bent Tree.

Bent Tree has become one of the South’s premier gated communities that is also a wildlife preserve.  It spreads out across 3500 acres of rolling hills, coves, streams, cliffs, and waterfalls, reaching an altitude on Mt. Oglethorpe of 3300 feet.  Bent Tree offers a  110 acre central lake and a complete range of recreational amenities that include an 18 hole championship golf course with full time pro on staff, award winning tennis courts, stables and horseback riding, hiking trails, pools, sandy swim beach on the lake, family play areas, event facilities, a restaurant, and much more. The community provides an excellent Public Safety Department with First Responder EMS services, full-time fire department, and security officers available around the clock.  There are approximately 1,100 homes in Bent Tree, fifty five miles of paved roads, and a private water system that includes a beautiful lake fed by nine mountain streams.

In 1984, the development was purchased by the homeowners and is now run by its own board.  The Bent Tree community leadership is committed to maintaining the integrity of the forest and related ecosystems of this mountain haven. Their stewardship extends to fish and wildlife, outdoor recreational opportunities, timber and water.
