Bears Oh My! : Big Canoe's exclusive Gift Store is For Sale!

Bear Oh My is an Open, Active & Revenue generating business located in the North Georgia Mountain Community of Big Canoe.  Big Canoe is a thriving Resort, a favorite destination spot for the Atlanta & Florida Crowd (primary regions).  But it is also a thriving permanent residents community with well over 1200 families.

Bears Oh My is the Exclusive Gift Shop in the community, and still (even in this economy) does a brisk business.  There is well over $60,000 worth of inventory in existence.  Owner is finally begin her retirement!  The Shop is centrally located in Big Canoe, and has a very active tourist traffic market.  The adjoining Chapel & Chimneys do 100's of wedding per year, and a symbiotic relationship with those facilities exists that provides party favors, wedding gifts etc.  The local Home & Condo Owners find Bears Oh My a quality and convenient source of "Mountain Motif & Decorations".  As the sole Shop in Big Canoe, many of the local Food Growers use Bear Oh My as their point of "Order & Delivery" (This is an increasingly popular relationship).

Located in an absolutely idyllic "Cafe Setting".  Bears Oh My occupies the left half of the top floor of the "Country Store" building.  The right half is occupied by the very popular "Mexicali Joe's Restaurant", which features a Sports Bar / Outdoor Patio Cafe style. 

It's hard to see through the glare, but straight ahead in the below photograph is the Chimneys Rental, Conference Center & Wedding Facility.  The main Big Canoe Real Estate Offices are just to left in distance.  Almost every visitor to Big Canoe runs through this area, and that means several hundred Shoppers per month!   During Peak Seasons, you will see several wedding per weekend, each drawing hundreds of folks.  Our little shop & restaurant area is often abuzz with foot traffic.

Below we step inside the shop and offer
up a miscellaneous sampling of photos, including some ideas of inventory and product offerings that we find are very suitable to the location.


 

The Space was completely remodeled prior to Barb signing her lease. Included brand new hardwood floors, high vaulted exposed beam ceilings, fresh paint.

Barb has developed a wonderful relationship with several of the local farm coops, specialty gardens etc.  The growers use Barb's shop as the community order / pickup point for fresh weekly produce!  All these contacts and relationships are part of the sale.  This is becoming increasingly popular in the community, and has served to increase steady foot traffic.
 

Big Canoe has a Very Vibrant Artist Community!  Writers, Photographers, Painters, Sculptors, Potters and various craft makers all find Barb's Exclusive Community Gift Shop as a great place to showcase their wares.

Above Row: Since the community has several outdoor events throughout the year, including Oktoberfest, 4th of July, Symphony on the Green, and Plays and Concerts at the terraces amphitheatre, upscale wine & picnic combinations are popular.  "Token Souvenir" items such as coffee mugs, T-shirts and mountain knick-knack & decor move briskly.

Above is a perfect example of a Vendor Distribution Relationship that fits the Shop/Community well.  Since a goodly portion of business comes from homeowners remodeling or refurbishing their homes & cabins to fit a more "Mountain Motif", Vendor Partnerships such as the above offer customers the option of viewing samples of custom cabinetry fixtures, which can then be special ordered via our catalog relationship.

Separating the Restaurant & Shop is "The Loo" (aka central, shared restrooms).  Mexicali Joes, shown above right serves as the community favorite pub.  During busy tourist season the restaurant gets huge volume, with a steady stream of browsers mingling over into the shop.  It is popular with permanent residents, offering steady traffic even during the slow months.

No Good Presentation is Complete without "The Sales Pitch", so here goes!
A good place to start is the reason for the sale.  Believe it or not, the beautiful young woman in the photo above is actually ready for retirement!!!  After 25 years of running 2 of the most popular Shops in Roswell/Alpharetta & Big Canoe, Barb is ready to spend time relaxing, preferably much of the time in a Condo on The Gulf Shores!!  So an obvious 1st reason to buy:  Keeping Shop agrees with a long and lovely life!  Barb has loved every minute of her life as a shopkeeper, and she's very good at it!  She has a great selection of Inventory + a lifetime of Quality vendor Contacts to pass on.  The shop is being sold as a "Turn Key" operation that currently enjoys steady business, even in this economy.   Because of it's central & exclusive relationship to the community of Big Canoe, the location and shop have a lot of untapped potential as well.  The Space has a renewable lease through the end of 2011 (again, renewable at end).  While nothing is ultimately immune to the current economy, Big Canoe is a very upscale community, with a permanent resident and tourism component that is more insulated from the economic downturn.  The perfect new owner for the establishment would most likely be a local area resident simply wanting a steady income stream, and just enough activity to keep young, fit and socially interactive!  But again, the exclusive relationship that the shop enjoys with the community of Big Canoe, really does open the doors of opportunity wide open!  Come buy and visit, and Barb would be happy to share everything she can, to help you make the decision that is best for you.
